Hot Fireplace Ideas

Fireplace season is upon us and perhaps you are thinking about updating an old fireplace or maybe even building a new one. With so many style choices, it can be difficult to decide not only what will work for your design, but your budget as well. Style, cost and installation are a few of the considerations you’ll likely have. Here are some options for you to consider.

Slab. Using a slab of marble, granite or another solid surface can create a beautiful modern and sleek aesthetic. As with all natural stone, you should hand select your slab. Try to take advantage of veining that creates a focal point.

Cost: Around $7,000 to $10,000 for the slab, fabrication and installation. This facing is among the higher-priced ones.

Steel. A custom application of steel can give your design an industrial and modern or rustic look.

Cost: From $5,000 to $8,000 for raw materials, custom fabrication and installation.

Copper. Copper is a great material to use on the focal point fireplace as it will patina and become more beautiful over time.

Cost: $5,000 to $8,000 for materials, fabrication and installation.

Poured-in-place concrete. Another great selection for a modern and minimalistic style is concrete. It’s a great-looking choice, but definitely one for a specialist to install. Ask your contractor about concrete specialists who can provide examples and pricing for your consideration.

Cost: $7,000 to $10,000 for raw materials, custom fabrication and installation.
