How to Create Mid Century Modern Chic

Thanks to my Mad Men obsession, I have become very intrigued by mid-century design. Although it may be a bit stark for my taste, I do love the new chic takes on this aesthetic. So last night I came across this beautiful design by Jackie Astier  and was completely inspired. Jackie was recently named a rising star by Elle Decor magazine. Below is her mid-century glam apartment. The photos are taken from the spread in Elle Decor.

I love how Jackie incorporated a lacquered ceiling along with an eclectic mix of textures in the furnishing and accessories. The scheme pulls together a myriad of pieces yet the finished product is polished and very sophisticated.

Hints of gold and burnished mirror give a bit of a retro vibe, yet mixed with dark, rich color, the space exudes glam.

The gallery wall and perfectly organized bookshelves give a geometric balance to the room. The white tufted slipper chairs soften the rigidity.

Stunning use of geometric pattern.

Jackie is pictured above. How cute and stylish is she? I love the deep turquoise velvet dining chairs paired against a ivory white plush rug and lacquered walls.

So, how can you re-create this room? Good news. I have taken the work out of it for you! Take a look at some of the fabulous finds below.
